The Dow Recreation & Wellness Center is usually filled with the sounds of basketballs bouncing, the splashing of swimmers completing laps in the Dean Aquatic Center, the banging in the weight room, and the panting as members of the community complete workouts.
Those typical sounds associated with exercise and fitness have been joined by the noises of power equipment, banging, and scraping as construction on an area to house the cardiovascular workout machines is underway. When students return to campus in August, they will find the space that used to serve as a classroom in the Dow has been transformed into an inviting area for working out, complete with windows looking outside and into the aquatic center.
The Dow atrium will also receive a facelift this summer, allowing for a better entrance to the building.
