Nakamura to receive athletic trainers scholarship

Yume NakamuraYume Nakamura has been selected to receive a scholarship from the National Athletic Trainers Association Research and Education Foundation. Nakamura, a junior from Miyazaki City, Japan, is the first scholar from Albion's athletic training education program to receive the scholarship and she is one of 40 scholarship winners from more than 350 programs around the country.

The thinking accomplished by the student body - through research, scholarship, and creative activity - was celebrated for the 20th year Thursday with the Elkin Isaac Research Symposium.

More than 100 students presented original work from all academic disciplines, while many more were recognized with awards at Honors Convocation, or via the senior art exhibit.

Frandsen Named Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration

Mike Frandsen, assistant professor of management at Albion since 2004, was named Gerstacker Institute director in 2006.Albion College has announced the appointment of Michael Frandsen as interim vice president for finance and administration, effective July 7, 2009. Frandsen currently directs the College's Carl A. Gerstacker Liberal Arts Institute for Professional Management. He will succeed Troy VanAken, who recently accepted the presidency at Thiel College in Pennsylvania. In addition, Charlene Crandell, currently the Gerstacker Institute's associate director, has been named acting director, effective July 7, 2009.
