Biography: Ellen Crane is an attorney specializing in labor, employment, and as health care law. She represents public, private, and non-profit companies in areas such as employee relations and discipline matters, personnel policies and procedures, union relations, and contractual relationships. She has been an attorney for over 15 years and is a frequent lecturer.
Ellen graduated from Albion College with a major in Economics. She did two internships in Washington, D.C., working in the Office of the General Counsel for the Republican National Committee and the Office of Liaison Services for the U.S. Department of Justice. After graduating from Albion, she went on to earn a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law school in 1994. She is also a graduate of the 2010 Great Lakes Bay Regional Leadership Institute, Leadership Saginaw, and the 1,000 Leaders program.
A native of Saginaw, MI, she remains active in her community. She serves on the Saginaw Community Foundation Board, the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce Board, the Harvey Randall Wickes Foundation Board, and the Delta College Foundation Board.
Ellen has many fond memories of her time at Albion. In addition to her academics, she served as president of the Albion Student Senate, was a member of Alpha Chi Omega, and was a player on Albion's first women's soccer team. She believes her experiences here provided her with opportunities that helped prepare her for leadership roles in her professional life.
Ellen is a fourth generation attorney in Saginaw, where she resides with her husband, Peter Freigang, and their three children.
