Full-time faculty and administrative employees.
Employees are eligible to participate in the Long-Term Total Disability Plan underwritten by The Hartford beginning the first day of the month following one (1) year of employment. If you are absent from work on the day you would otherwise become eligible, you will become eligible on the day you return to work.
The total disability benefit allows for a monthly disability payment after six (6) months of continuous total disability as defined under the plan.
When an employee becomes "totally disabled," the Human Resources office must be notified so that the necessary application forms for monthly disability benefits can be completed and submitted to The Hartford.
A booklet summarizing the plan entitled Long Term Disability Income Plan is available through the Human Resources office. Payment of benefits is governed by the terms of the group insurance policy.
