Mentor Expectations: Your Job as an Alumni Career Mentor
An Alumni Career Mentor is an Albion College alumnus/a or a friend of the college who volunteers to network with current Albion College students or other alumni (often students who are only a year out of school) for the purposes of career exploration and professional development.
Most alumni career mentors do not work in human resources nor are they recruiters. In signing up to be a mentor, the Office of Career Development does not expect you to provide jobs for students.
Student participants are advised not to use the Alumni Career Mentor Program to directly solicit employment from alumni or their organizations. Students are clearly informed that while resume critiquing, internships, job shadowing, and informational interviewing are possible outcomes of a student/mentor relationship, they cannot be guaranteed and should not be expected.
