Marcy SacksHistory FacultyI chose to become a professor because of the very idealistic belief that, through teaching, I could change my small corner of the world. More than a decade into this career, I am more certain than ever that this is true. When I can share with students aspects of this country’s past that they never knew, that can move them to tears or generate their passions, then I have done my job. And in the small classes at Albion College, I have tremendous opportunity to accomplish this. My students become historic figures, experiencing the Middle Passage or handing down decisions as Supreme Court justices. They consider history from its source, allowing the material to come alive through their own creativity and talents. The excitement of each unpredictable, different day in the classroom makes my job worth waking up for every morning. Learn more about Dr. Sacks and her research.
