Alumni/Faculty Ceramics, Photography on Exhibit at Albion College

Alumni Ken Shenstone, ’84, Anne Beyer, ’10, and ceramics professor Lynne Chytilo demonstrate three approaches to one medium with "Finding a Way In: Explorations in Clay"

Alumni Ken Shenstone, ’84, Anne Beyer, ’10, and ceramics professor Lynne Chytilo demonstrate three approaches to one medium with "Finding a Way In: Explorations in Clay" currently on exhibit in Albion College’s Bobbitt Visual Arts Center. Photography by visiting assistant professor Ashley Feagin is also on exhibit. Both shows run through October 10.
Although the three of them have been colleagues and friends for several years, Chytilo notes that she, Shenstone and Beyer will all exhibit very different types of work. “Some of this work is mixed media, and we all have different interests,” she said. “Hand-formed clay is an art form that goes back thousands of years and there are countless ways to approach it.”
Visiting professor Ashley Feagin’s “Testament” addresses her struggle to integrate her adult life with her religious upbringing. ”With this body of work, I write my own testament, built on the freedoms I now claim,” she reported in her artist statement. Feagin has taught at Albion College since 2013 and holds a master’s degree in photography from Louisiana Technical University.
Albion College’s Bobbitt Visual Arts Center galleries are free and open to the public Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.; Saturday, hours are 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. For more information, contact the Art and Art History department, 517/629-0246 or Jessica Merrild at jmerrild@albion.edu.
