Leah is a double major in accounting and business and organizations. In particular, she likes Albion’s small classes and the individual attention she gets from her professors. For example, one class did not fit her schedule and was able to enroll in a directed study with a professor. She appreciates that the E&M professors stay after their office hours and are accessible and willing to teach to a variety of learning styles.
Leah’s accounting courses helped her land two paid accounting internships: one with Rehmann in the Ann Arbor office, the other with Post, Smythe, Lutz and Ziel LLP, a small CPA firm in Plymouth, MI. As part of the E&M department’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for two years, Leah has had the opportunity to work directly with clients in the Albion community.
Outside of the classroom, Leah has been a tour guide for the Admission office, is a current member of the Accounting Society, Best Buddies and is the Vice President of Community Service for Delta Sigma Pi, the professional business fraternity on campus.
“The E&M faculty and staff go out of their way to help me succeed.”
