After a grueling double-header hosted by Grand Valley State University, the Albion College stock seat team sits amongst the top teams in regional standings. Going home with a reserve high point team ribbon and also a third place out of the 10 teams that competed on November 10, the Briton riders had much to be proud of.
First-year students helped carry the team during the first show of the day. Hannah Schultz (Livonia/Divine Child) and Allison Voorhess (Mount Clemons/Lutheran North) earned first place finishes in the intermediate I and II divisions respectively. The team as a whole wound up in third place for the first show.
Voorhess proved successful again with another first place in the second show, accompanied by a win from Kaitlyn Anderson (Douglas/Saugatuck) in intermediate II. Senior Katie Heim (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville Community) won first in her novice class, and freshman Jordan McGinn (Royal Oak/Shrine) rounded out the blue ribbons with a win in walk-trot. The top teams were within just a few points of each other, and in the end Albion came away tied for reserve high point team.
Coach Denise Webber is proud to announce two more riders that have pointed into the next division and qualified for regional championships. Michelle Miele (Bloomfield Hills/International Academy) and Kate Sears (Ann Arbor/Ann Arbor-Huron) will both go on to compete at regionals next spring.
