There were 10 Albion riders that qualified to compete in five of the six divisions offered at the IHSA stock seat Region 4 Championships. Competition was tough at the show, which was held at the Michigan State University livestock pavilion on February 15, but the Briton riders sat tall and held their heads high throughout the day.
Top finishers included Brooke Viele (Midland / H.H. Dow), Jordan McGinn (Royal Oak / Shrine), and Megan McNeil (Onondaga / Jackson Christian), who all earned fourth place ribbons in their divisions. McNeil also picked up a sixth place in the open reining division. Morgan Carey (Hemlock / Saint Charles Community) and Kristine Mussell (Midland / H.H. Dow) also finished in sixth place.
Nine other colleges had riders competing at Regionals, and coach Denise Webber says that she felt victorious just by having so many Albion riders qualify. “I am so proud of my team in every aspect – from the way they dressed to the way they rode,” says Webber. “They were great sportsmen and I’m so proud of them. Even though they did not make it to Semi-Finals, they are still champions to me.”
