Recycle!County-Wide Recycling Options

This information is reproduced from a handout distributed by Calhoun County.

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS

Paper Products

Newspaper- including color comics and glossy inserts.  If possible, bundle newspapers in paper grocery bags.

Corrugated Cardboard- flatten boxes and remove excess plastic and tape.

Boxboard- Lightweight cardboard used in cereal, cracker, and cookie boxes.  Flatten boxes.

Brown Grocery Bags, Magazines & Catalogs, Telephone Books, Office & Computer Paper

Other Recyclables

#1 and #2 Plastic bottles & Jugs- milk and water jugs, laundry and hair care product bottles with a small-mouth opening.  Look on the bottom for #1 PETE or #2 HDPE and recycling symbol.  Clear and color accepted.  Please rinse clean and discard lids.  Crush if possible.  No motor oil or chemical containers.

Glass Bottles & Jars- clear, green and brown food and beverage containers.  Rinse clean and discard lids.  No Pyrex, window glass, light bulbs, mirrors, beverage glasses or broken glass.

Metal Food & Beverage cans, Aluminum Baking Tins & Foil- Tin, steel and aluminum cans, and aluminum baking tins and aluminum foil.  Rinse clean.  Whenever possible, remove can ends and flatten can, then put can ends inside the flattened can.  No aerosol cans or containers from hazardous products.

The following items are all considered contaminants in the recycling loads.

  • Plastic Pails or Tubs
  • Shrink Wrap or Plastic Film

  • Deli or to-go containers
  • Light bulbs
  • Broken glass
  • Water softener bags
  • Large cat/dog food bags
  • Dirty paper plates or towels
  • Dirty pizza boxes
  • Frozen food containers or packaging
  • Wax coated boxes
  • Scrap metal

Open Monday-Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM and 1st Saturday of month 9:00AM-Noon. Walk through gate.

Battle Creek
1040 S. Raymond Road
24 hour access, 7 days per week

Bedford Township
- 2nd Saturday, 115 S. Uldriks Drive
Clarence Township- 3rd Saturday, 27052 R Drive N

Funding for the recycling bins is provided by the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners from the Solid Waste Management Fund, which is generated through an agreement between Calhoun County and the C & C Landfill/BFI.
