Friday Afternoon, October 16, 2009 3:30-5:30 pedagogy roundtable discussion for interested/participating teachers, tour of Albion’s Yamaha Keyboard lab, Lessons/observations for interested Teachers 5:30 dinner as a group (not included in fees) at a local restaurant 7:30 p.m. Guest Pianist - Kenneth Drake, Goodrich Chapel Saturday, October 17, 2009 Registration for Albion College Intermediate Competition: 7:30-8:00 a.m., North Annex of Goodrich Chapel, coffee, doughnuts provided 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Intermediate Competition (practice rooms provided) 10:30 a.m. winners announced, short winners concert 11:15 a.m. Registration for advanced competition; Intermediate Masterclass on Goodrich Stage 12:00 p.m. lunch for all competitors 1:00 p.m. Advanced Competition 4:00 p.m. winners announced, short winners concert 5:00 p.m. Masterclass for Advanced Category 6:30 p.m. Dinner **NB. In order to accommodate guests with long drives, we have tried to make the schedule on a half-day time period. Sunday, October 18, 2009 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. Registration for Albion College Piano Competition: North Annex of Goodrich Chapel, coffee, doughnuts provided 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Beginning/Early Intermediate Competition (practice rooms provided) 11:00 a.m. Winners announced, short winners concert 11:45--Masterclass by Dr. Yelena Wells (adjudicator & clinician) 12:45-2:00 lunch at Albion College Dining Facility (included in registration fee) 2:00-??? private lessons with Albion College Clinician and/or Albion Faculty (please call or email to schedule a specific slot). PLEASE NOTE: All participants who win a prize in the competition are asked to perform at the winners’ concert. Memory is encouraged for the competition, but not required and will not be held against the performer. Should the student wish to bring other pieces for a lesson and/or master class, this piece can be "in progress" and could be a section rather than an entire finished work. Please bring scores of your selections for the judge. All competitors will receive a CD of their musical performance in the competition. Fees: for teachers, registration fee is $45 which includes coffee/doughnuts each morning, lunch Saturday and Sunday, as well as access to the pedagogy roundtable discussions on Friday afternoon. In addition, this fee includes a t-shirt and an opportunity to teach or perform for one of the Albion College faculty or guest Artist. Please contact Dr. David Abbott at the information below to schedule a lesson or observation. This is so that we can work with each individual in the most efficient and useful context. For students: registration fee is $30 which includes breakfast, a t-shirt, lunch on the day of the competition, and a performance CD of the competition. DINNER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FEES but we will eat at a local restaurant which gives a group discount/flat rate.
