b8_2009

The Albion College Marching Band, nicknamed "The British Eighth," is a 70 member ensemble symbolizing the college's British heritage that performs for all home football games, and other events including community and campus parades, pep rallies, and Opening Convocation. In 2009 the band performed in exhibition at the Wyandotte "Downriver Festival" and in 2006 the "B8" marched in the 80th anniversary America's Thanksgiving Day Parade in downtown Detroit. The British Eighth is open to all students regardless of major or marching experience. Auditions are held at the start of pre-season camp for chair placement only. Beginning with pre-season camp held the week prior to the start of classes in August, The British Eighth performs a traditional pre-game and 2-3 different half-time shows for throughout the football season. Recent show themes have included 70s Rock, Monty Python, The Beatles, and Heros and Villians. The British Eighth is led by Director of Bands Dr. Samuel McIlhagga.
