Director Biographies
Douglas Rose is Director of Choral Activities at
Albion College. Dr. Rose received undergraduate degrees in music (vocal
performance) and music education from Memorial University of Newfoundland and
master’s degrees in choral conducting and religion from Yale University. In
1992, he completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at State University of New
York at Stony Brook. Before accepting his present position at Albion College,
he taught at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia and Mount Holyoke
College in Massachusetts.
As a professional
singer, Dr. Rose has been a member of the Elmer Iseler Singers, the Toronto
Mendelssohn Choir, and the Robert Shaw Festival Singers. He has received
numerous scholarships, awards and distinctions including a grant for advanced
conducting studies awarded by the Canada Council for the Arts, and a “Teacher of
the Year” award from Albion College. He is active as a clinician and
adjudicator within the Michigan School Vocal Music Association and has been
contracted for conducting engagements in Canada by provincial choral federations
in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario.

John King is a
vocal instructor at Albion College and member of the Concert Choir. He
directs the Opera Workshop with a student assistant every other year.
Karen TenBrink directs the Women's Ensemble.
