Scope & Content
The Austin Studios Photograph Collection contains materials from the years 1938 to 1977, with the bulk of the collection from 1957-1968.  The collection consists of a variety of Albion College related photographs with major subjects including student portraits, campus buildings, Greek life, athletics, commencement and other special events, clubs, alumni, administration and faculty.

The collection consists of eleven series:

Series Description
Series I:  Students, 1949-1977
This series contains photographs of general students scenes, as well as posed publicity photos and student portraits.  The series is organized into two subseries:  General Scenes and Student Portraits.  The photographs are organized chronologically and then alphabetically by student last name or folder title within the subseries.

Series III: Greek Life, 1958-1969
This series contains photographs pertaining to all aspects of Greek system at Albion.  It is divided into three subseries: General Greek (including dances and activities), Fraternities, and Sororities.  General Greek is organized alphabetically and then chronologically.  The Fraternities and Sororities subseries are alphabetized by fraternity or sorority name and then chronologically.

Series IV: Athletics, 1954-1968
This series contains photographs of sports teams, as well as shots of individual athletes and sporting events.  It is organized alphabetically by sport and then each sport is divided into the subseries: Games, Players, and Teams.  The subseries are organized chronologically and then alphabetically by folder title.

Series V: Commencement, 1953-1968
This series contains photographs of commencement ceremonies.  It is organized chronologically and then alphabetically.

Series VI: Special Events, 1958-1968
This series contains photos of special events on campus.  It is organized into fourteen subseries.  The first subseries is General Photos and is arranged alphabetically.  The other subseries follow alphabetically and are then arranged chronologically.  The subseries include:  Art Exhibits, Dances, Dedications, Fairs, Forums, Guest Speakers, Harvest Wreath Ceremonies, Homecoming, Plays, Presentations, Snow Queen Events, and Summer Honors College Events.

Series VII: Clubs and Groups, 1938-1969
This series contains photographs of club and activity groups, as well as unidentified groups.  It is organized into three subseries: Unidentified Adult Groups, Unidentified Student Groups, and Clubs and Activities.  The Clubs and Activities subseries is organized alphabetically and then chronologically.

Series VIII: Alumni, 1959-1968
This series contains photographs pertaining to alumni.  It includes photographs of reunions, presentations, and receptions.  It is arranged chronologically and then alphabetically.

Series IX: Administration, 1958-1966
This series contains photographs of administrators, both portraits and spontaneous images.  It is arranged alphabetically by last name or folder title and then chronologically.

Series X: Academic Departments, 1952-1969
This series contains photographs of faculty.  It is organized in two subseries:  Departmental Photos and Individual Faculty Members.  Both subseries are organized alphabetically and then chronologically.

Series XI: Miscellaneous, 1958-1966
This series contains photos that either do not fit into the above categories or are of subject matter not related to the college.  The series is arranged alphabetically.
