Scope and Content
This inventory of files lists current file names and organization of the collection. Not all alumni from Albion College have files in this collection. The majority of files in the collection are for alumni deceased before the 1980s.

Female alumni may be listed either under their maiden OR married names. Married alumni may be filed together under the husband's name. Creating cross-references for these students is in process. Cross-references from married names to maiden names are in red.

These files consist of a variety of materials, including such items as correspondence between the College and the individual, newspaper clippings referring to the individual or his/her accomplishments, materials relating or belonging to the individual, etc. The files can contain anywhere from one item to several folders worth. Privacy laws will affect what information can be shared with outside individuals.

We are currently adding such information as birth and death dates and graduation dates, if such information is included in their file. This process is just beginning. Notations include:

Ex = Year the alumnus would have graduated had he/she completed his/her education here
Prep = Graduate of the Preparatory School
* = Photograph File available
[ ] = Married/maiden name reference
[ ] = Name of related collection
( ) = Birth and/or death dates
? = Uncertainty about date or spelling

The Alumni Files do not contain information for individuals who attended Albion within the past 20-30 years. For information on those individuals, please contact the Alumni/Parent Relations Office at 517/629-0448 or E-mail alumniandparents@albion.edu. Privacy laws will affect what information can be shared with outside individuals.
