Records Management Outcomes Report 2002

The Proposal
A proposal was made to the President and his Administrative Council for the implementation of a campus Records Management Program. The final decision was made to begin the Program with those offices moving to the new Ferguson Administration Building in the summer of 2002. A short presentation on the program was given at an All-Staff meeting, and the process was begun.

Plans for the Future
  • Attempt to reconnect with units now in Ferguson that did not participate in the Records program previous to the move, in order to assign a liaison, survey their holdings, and create records schedules to assist in future office management and transfers to the Archives.

  • With the assistance of student workers, begin to process the administrative materials already transferred to the Archives, in order to provide better access to those materials for the departments of origin.

  • Begin the Records program with academic departments, some having already contacted the Archives with related questions.

  • Locate resources to provide additional storage space to properly house materials transferred to the Archives through the work of the Records Management Program.

  • Locate resources to improve environmental conditions in the current Archives space to more safely house audiovisual materials and aged historical documents.
