SCOLA is a non-profit educational organization that receives and re-transmits television programming from around the world in native languages. These programs are available via satellite and the Internet to students of language study, ethnic communities, and anyone seeking a global perspective. Accessing SCOLA Video Programming There are 5 channels of web video which Albion
College faculty can access. Contact
Mike Van Houten (ext.
0293), Melinda Kraft (ext.
0962),
or Dianne Guenin-Lelle
(ext. 0335) for the username and password, which are
required to log in to the
SCOLA Web site. Programs from any of the 5 channels are available as downloads for a rolling 7-day period. Programs are not archived beyond 7 days. SCOLA video requires QuickTime 6.0 or above, RealPlayer, or any player capable of playing MP4 files. Insta-Class "Each SCOLA Insta-Lesson consists of a video and audio clip of a segment of native language news broadcasts that have been transcribed and translated. Our new on-line lesson format allows you to watch the video playback while viewing a transcript, translation, quiz or vocabulary window.
