InMICH is now MeLCat!
January 10, 2005 --- With the beginning of the 2005 Winter semester, InMICH has changed its name to MeLCat
(MeL="Michigan eLibrary"). "MeLCat is Michigan's new statewide online union catalog and resource
sharing system. It contains the the combined holdings of all participating Michigan libraries
(expected to eventually include approximately 12 million unique titles representing 48 million items).
The resource-sharing system allows Michigan library patrons in good standing at a participating
library to place online requests for items (without assistance from library staff) and pick up
the materials at their local libraries."
Albion College students, faculty, and staff can search MeLCat for books that Albion does not own
or are already checked out to another patron,
and can place a request for that book online - if the item is available for loan, it will be delivered
to the Albion College Library Circulation Desk, usually within a few business days.
There are links to MeLCat built into the Albion College Library Online Catalog. At the top of every
search screen is a button allowing users to "Search MeLCat". The direct link to search MeLCat
is: http://elibrary.mel.org/search/.
