These databases will help you locate information published in journals, magazines, newspapers
and a variety of other sources.
General Science Abstracts
Journals and magazines from the U.S. and Great Britain, covering such subjects as
anthropology, astronomy, biology, computers, earth sciences, medicine and health, and much
more.
Expanded Academic Index Full-Text
EAI indexes approximately 3,400 journals and magazines and the New York Times. Full text online is provided for
approximately 2,000 of the journals/magazines.
LEXIS-NEXIS Academic Universe
LEXIS-NEXIS Academic Universe is a system of databases providing indexing and full text for
a large number of newspapers and magazines. A good source for recent news and information.
PubMed
PubMed, a service of the National Library of Medicine, provides access to over 12 million MEDLINE citations back to
the mid-1960's and additional life science journals. PubMed includes links to many sites providing full text
articles and other related resources.
BasicBIOSIS
Includes over 300,000 records from 350 of the core life science journals most easily found in
college and university libraries. Coverage is from 1994 to the present. Updated monthly.
Article1st
Article1st indexes approximately 12,500 journals and magazines, across all subject areas. This
database indicates which journal and magazine articles are available
in the Albion College Library.
PAIS (Public Affairs Information
Service)
Includes articles, books, conference proceedings, government documents, book chapters, and
statistical directories about public affairs, including economic, political, and social
issues.
Humanities
Abstracts
Indexes 400 periodicals in archaeology, art, classics, film, folklore, journalism, linguistics,
music, the performing arts, philosophy, religion, world history, and world literature. Coverage
begins in 1984.
WilsonSelectPlus
WilsonSelectPlus contains indexed and abstracted articles from over 1300
periodicals, all with ASCII full text online. The database is comprised of records from the
following H.W. Wilson databases: Readers' Guide Abstracts, Social Sciences Abstracts,
Humanities Abstracts, General Science Abstracts and Wilson Business Abstracts. The dates of
coverage begin January 1994 and continue to the present (please note that each periodical can
begin on a different month and year).

PubMed Central
PubMed Central (PMC) is the U.S. National Library of Medicine's digital archive
of life sciences journal literature. Access to the full text of articles in PMC
is free, except where a journal requires a subscription for access to recent
articles.
Academic Press (IDEAL)
This service provides access to the full text of approximately 200 science
journals published by Academic Press.
Electronic Collections Online
Electronic Collections Online provides indexing and full-text from academic journals in the
sciences and many other disciplines. Articles can be viewed online or printed.
JSTOR
Provides indexing and full-text from scholarly journals in General Science and many other disciplines.
Unique, in that coverage for each journal begins with the first volume.

MeLCat will help you find books owned by dozens of libraries in Michigan (including Albion College,

Grand Rapids Community College, Southfield Public Library, and many others). Books may be borrowed by using the online request form.
