President's
Room. This room, so called because of the portraits of past
college presidents that grace the walls, is the entryway to the Stockwell
building. Here you can find many current local and
international newspapers, as well as a selection of New Books (materials
recently acquired by the library).
|
 |
Current
Newspapers. As you enter the President's Room, look to your
right. The most current edition of various newspapers are shelved
here. Everything from the Jackson Citizen Patriot to the
London Times Literary Supplement are available to peruse. |
 |
Microfilm
readers/printers. Some of our periodicals and newspapers
are available only on microfilm or microfiche. Use these
reader/printers to view and make copies of articles. Copies cost
$.10. |
 |
Government
Document Workstation. The Government Document Workstation is used with
the CDs shelved just left of the PC. The CDs include statistical
information not available elsewhere: population & agricultural
censuses, budget, crime, business, trade and income statistics.
Other CDs cover geology & mapping information, OSHA, the U.S. Code and
even poster replications. |
 |

This structure houses the library's collection of maps and atlases. |
 |
Periodicals
Re-shelving Carts. When done using a bound periodical, you may leave them on one of these carts.
They are located near the Periodicals Desk. |
 |
Periodicals
Desk. Stop at the periodicals desk for assistance in the Stockwell
building. Desk workers can help you look up and locate
materials. Patrons also may purchase transparencies for $.50. |
 |
Microfilm
Compact Shelving. Patrons are welcome to select their own
microfilm from our compact shelving. The shelf guides indicate the
periodical title and date range. |
 |
Current
Periodicals Room. The most recent issues of our periodicals are
available here, along with plenty of large tables to spread out your study
materials. |
 |
Recent
Periodical Issues. The current issue of each periodical is
displayed on hinged easels. Lift an easel and you will find
back issues of the same title. Recent issues remain there until they
are sent out to be bound, and eventually shelved in the tiers. |
 |
The
Tiers. Signs are available throughout the tiers indicating locations
of periodicals. The main floor is Tier 3, which houses the
Government Documents. Each floor is split into two
tiers. |
 |
Stockwell
Elevator. The library has an elevator in each building for patron use as well as the
transport of book carts. Tip: in order for the elevator to operate,
both the door and the gate must be completely closed. |
 |
Library
Administration and Government
Documents Office. Located at the rear of Tier 3, this is where
the secretary works and also where government documents are
received and processed. Albion College is a Federal depository for government documents,
available for check out to
the entire 7th Congressional District. |
 |
Mail
area. In the same room as the government documents office is the
