Other Departments in the Library...

  Starr Weaver, FURSCA Coordinator
Starr helps fund student research projects of all kinds for the Foundation for Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (FURSCA).  Starr works part time, and her office is in the basement of Seeley Mudd (room 108).

Fun fact:  In her previous work life, Starr used to teach kindergarten.
Scott Hendrix, Writing Skills Center
Scott is the person to go see when you are writing a class paper, an essay, a story, even a letter to the President of the United States. He also has several trained student consultants in the Writing Center who help him help Albion students with writing and other academic endeavors. Scott also teaches in the English Department, so that's where he is during the mornings.

Fun Fact: Scott likes to rip out old house walls, and build new rooms in old spaces.

Karla McCavit, Quantitative Skills Center
The Quantitative Skills Center is the place to go for a wide variety of help. The QSC is open Monday through Friday from 10:10 a.m. until 12:00 noon, and from 2:10 until 4:00 p.m. Drop by (you don't need an appointment) for help with just about anything quantitative in nature (this includes using mathematics, computers, statistics, logic, spreadsheets, or graphing calculators). Students may also attend workshops on topic such as graduate exam preparation, overcoming math anxiety, study strategies, test-taking, and solving story problems. The QSC also organizes evening help sessions for several departments on campus, including Mathematics, Chemistry, and Geology. See the Web site for more information.

Fun Fact: She and her husband have twin boys who definitely keep life interesting! They spend all of their time remodeling their farm house, which is well over 100 years old.

   Pamela Schwartz, Learning Support Services

  Shelly Goodman, Disabilities Coordinator
Shelly is the person to see if you have a documented disability and registered with the Learning Support Center. She can help you with alternative text, note takers and set you on the path for a tutor. Please contact her if you have any questions she can direct you to the right place.

Fun fact: Shelly worked at Hughes Elementary School for seven years! She hopes to see the kids here at Albion College.

  Marilyn Kniburys, Secretary
Marilyn splits her time between the library and the Academic Skills Center.

Fun fact: Marilyn previously worked in the English department.
