Subject Portals
Subject portals provide direct access to a range and variety of resources in a particular academic discipline or area of study. These resources would include electronic databases, journals, videos, monographs, images, scholarly tools, and software. Each portal requires different levels of funding or endowment. While the emphasis is on electronic access, non-electronic resources are also included, such as paper, audio-visual materials, and manuscript and archival primary source material. It should be noted that a portal is not a static resource, but will change as information changes, both in terms of quantity, currency, and format. Each subject and resource portal can be a funding opportunity for an individual, group of individuals, corporate sponsorship, or foundation.
