Workshop/Dialogue on "How to facilitate change in relation to social justice"

Presented by Derrick Jenkins, Assistant Director of Ethnic Programs & Services at the University of Cincinnati and Hakiym Sha'ir, founder of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Hip Hop Congress

This program will explore the historic efforts of student activism and parallel their endeavors with that of hip hop activism; believed to be one of this generation’s primary voices of protest. The presentation will consist of a power point, a lively discussion on social justice in relation to being a student and how the aesthetic of art plays a role in addressing social injustice. This program will conclude with an exercise which will challenge the audience to examine their own participation within social activist organizations. This topic and presentation are as relevant as ever and should not be missed.
