Albion College is calling YOU!
The last Albion College Directory was printed in 2007. Our new 2012 directory project is under way! Over the next couple of months, Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) will be contacting alumni like you via mail, phone, and e-mail to request that you update your information.
We understand that you might not want to provide your information to just anyone, so we want you to know that their request for your information is legitimate. Any information you provide will only be shared with Albion College.

2012 Alumni Directory Project Frequently Asked Questions
I just received a postcard and/or email. Is this legitimate or a scam?
The communication you received is legitimate. It is not a scam. Albion College has partnered with PCI to produce a new Albion College Alumni Directory. The purpose of the directory is to help alumni connect with Albion College and with other alums.
Why do I need to update my information?
Information changes quickly! Mailing addresses, e-mail addresses, children ... things are always changing with our alumni and we want to keep in touch with you. Updating your information will ensure Albion College and your regional Alumni Chapter can keep you connected.
The 2012 Directory will be a permanent record for Albion College, indicating who attended the College and where alumni are in the world as of 2012. This is a great time to ensure your information is correct and up to date.
What information will I be asked to provide when I call to update my information?
You will be asked for the following information:
- Full name
- Maiden name
- Professional suffix
- Nickname or name you prefer to be called
- Preferred class year
- Home address
- Home phone
- Preferred e-mail address
- Job title
- Company
- Business address
- Business e-mail
- Business phone
- List of any other post-graduate degrees you have received (school, degree, and date received)
- Family members (spouse and kids--ages are helpful with kids so we know when we can send them an Albion College brochure!)
- Whether you would like to purchase the 2012 Alumni Directory
Why can I only update my information by calling a telephone number and speaking with a telemarketer?
Currently, this is the preferred method for PCI. Albion College is working with PCI to create an online phase of the project. Information on this phase of the Alumni Data Confirmation process will be posted as soon as it is available.
Can I update my information without making a purchase?
Yes, you may update as much or as little of your information as you prefer without making a purchase. Alumni who received a 2007 Alumni Directory found it very useful in reconnecting with lost alums and for networking purposes.
What are my options for purchasing a 2012 Albion College Alumni Directory from PCI?
There are several options:
- Combination Package ($129.95 + $15.95 shipping and handling), including:
- Printed alumni directory
- CD alumni directory
- Printed OR CD directory only ($89.95 + $9.95 shipping and handling)
- CD of alumni data by decade ($49.95 + $9.95 shipping and handling)
Why is Albion using an outside contractor to complete this project?
With a small staff, the Albion College Institutional Advancement team needs to use a professional company to ensure that the Directory is thorough, accurate, and completed on time. Albion has a contract with PCI outlining our agreement, including the prohibition of selling alumni information to a third party.
When will the 2012 Alumni Directory be complete?
The Directory will be completed and printed in October of 2012. Only the number of Directories that have been requested by alumni will be printed to be cost effective and environmentally friendly. Orders can be taken up through Summer 2012.
Is there an environmentally friendly version of the Alumni Directory?
Yes, alumni may purchase a CD-ROM of the Alumni Directory.
Can I choose what information is listed in the directory?
Yes. As a standard, the following information will be printed in the Directory:
- Full name, including your surname at Albion - if different from your current last name
- Class year
- Home mailing address
- Preferred phone
- Preferred e-mail address
- Professional code for networking
If you wish not to have certain information printed in the Directory, you may choose to have specific details omitted.
If I purchase a directory, how much of that purchase goes to Albion College?
In the past, a donor of a certain level or above received a directory as a benefit of their gift. The cost of the directory was taken out of their donation, reducing what was given to the College. For the 2012 publication, any alum can purchase a directory at his/her own cost. PCI has agreed to give Albion $10 of that purchase price. All alumni who purchase a directory will receive a letter when directories are mailed, acknowledging their $10 contribution to the College.

Who is PCI?
PCI traces its roots back over 85 years to the Rockwell F. Clancy Company, the nation's first publisher of alumni directories. PCI has been incorporated under the PCI (Publishing Concepts) name since 1982 and is a privately held, family-run business. PCI works with alumni and development offices of universities, colleges, professional schools, independent schools, alumni associations, fraternities, and sororities.
PCI's products help colleges and universities update alumni information for the purpose of encouraging alumni engagement. PCI partners with 17 of the top 25 universities as rated by US News and World Report, including Princeton, Harvard, and Georgetown.
