The Honors Institute Extravaganza:

A Three for One Deal

Under the guidance of Mike Hewitt, Social Coordinator extraordinaire, the Honors Institute held its first Wake-over/Movie Night/Game Night.  By putting three titles together, the Institute went for variety and variety there was.  From movies to pizza and popcorn to Star Trek Trivia, there was something for everyone in the Observatory that night.

Over the course of the evening, approximately fifteen honors students showed up to help eat ten boxes of pizza and a popcorn popper full of buttery kernels.  Although Star Trek Trivia wasn’t a hit, the movies certainly were.  Students piled themselves on chairs, couches, and even the floor to take in movies like The Princess Bride until the early hours of the morning.

According to Mike Hewitt, “Game Night won’t be part of it next year.”  However, the success of the Movie Night and Wake-over outweigh the failure of Game Night.  Everyone enjoyed the movies.  Some students lay back and watched quietly, others glanced at the screen between bites of pizza and handfuls of popcorn, while still others searched each film for bloopers and philosophical questions in need of discussion.

In the end (around 3:00 am), students slept well after their night of waking-over in the Observatory.
