Great Issues in Fine Arts: Dance

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The art forms of five different types of dances (modern, ballet, folk, ballroom, and African dance (particularly the way it influences American jazz and tap) will be explored through use of video, readings, discussion, and active participation. Studio sessions will be geared to beginners. Everyone should be able to participate equally; students will not be graded on previously acquired dance skills. This course meets the requirement for the Artistic Mode in the Fine Arts Division.
