Save the Date!
Homecoming
2008 is September 26-28.
Please plan on joining us for Albion College
Homecoming Weekend 2008. If your class year ends in a three or an
eight, this is your year to come back to Albion College! Stroll down
memory lane with friends and get reacquainted with the campus by joining
in on all the traditional Homecoming festivities. Best of all, your
class will gather for a class reunion.
We are working on the planning for reunions and class
activities. If you would like to join the planning committee, or have
any ideas for your celebration, please contact the Alumni Office at
517/629-0247 or via online contact form.
Purple and Gold on the Road
This Homecoming, the College will be celebrating Albion
connections in unique settings through a photography contest. We invite
you to submit your favorite photo of you or you and your Albion friends in an
interesting environment. Whether your photo depicts an alumni trip to
Greece, a recent Detroit Tigers game attended with classmates, or a
motorcycle trip through the Mojave Desert with your Albion roommate, we
want to see your most creative photo that illustrates an Albion
connection.
Photos will be displayed at the Kellogg Center and the Dow over
Homecoming weekend, and the top photos will be awarded prizes. Read on for
complete contest and submission details.
Share
Your Story
As you share stories from your life with your Albion friends, please
also participate in our Homecoming book drive by bringing your favorite young
adult books to Homecoming registration. (Books will be donated to the Albion
Senior High School)
Art Exhibit - Marking Time: Douglas Goering
Retrospective
Representing work from 45 years of art-making, this exhibit features
pieces, primarily abstract paintings, which address aspects of visual
perception. In many cases, viewers will see the same idea revisited
several times, providing a line of continuity. Visitors to the show will
find their own experiences inform their viewing and interpretation, and
Goering notes, “Their responses will surely approximate my intentions.”
Professor emeritus Douglas Goering retired this spring after 22 years
in Albion College’s Department of Art and Art History. Read on for
gallery hours and
exhibition details.
Gerald R. Ford Institute 30th Anniversary
The Institute’s anniversary celebration will begin Friday
evening with a
reception recognizing the Institute, its students, and the legacy of
President Gerald R. Ford. As part of its 30th anniversary celebration, the Ford Institute
is also sponsoring a performance by Jim Morris, identified by The New
Yorker as the “country’s leading political impressionist.” Morris’
bipartisan political satire is sure to make for an entertaining
evening. Visit the schedule page for
complete details.
Local Alumni Reception
Local
alumni are invited to gather during the All-Class Picnic Luncheon for a
reception at Homecoming. Visit with other Albion-area alumni and learn
about alumni in your neighborhood, their businesses, families, volunteer
efforts, and more. Refreshments will be served.
President’s
Reception
Meet
President Donna Randall at the Homecoming Presidential Reception. Enjoy
snacks and mingle with alumni, parents, faculty, and staff as you greet
Dr. Randall to show her the true Briton spirit.

Buildings
Homecoming 2008 is a great
opportunity to visit the newest buildings on campus. The newly expanded
and renovated science complex and the Nancy G. Held Equestrian Center
will be open for viewing over Homecoming Weekend.
Luggage Tags
When you are viewing the photo display at the
Kellogg Center, don’t forget to stop by the registration desk to get a
set of personalized luggage tags. Simply drop off two of your business
cards at registration before 1 p.m. on Saturday, and we will make two
custom Albion College luggage tags for you that will be available for
pick up between 3-4 p.m. at the registration table. These tags are a
great way to show your Briton pride as you travel and may spark
conversations with fellow Albion alumni or prospective students.
