2007-2008 Results Albion Finishes Third in Regular Season Competition In a highly competitive IHSA region that includes longtime powerhouse teams like Michigan State University, coming onto the scene with a group of young and inexperienced riders and a coach who is likewise new to the IHSA competition format can be a recipe for disaster. Not so for the members of Albion College’s first IHSA western team, who finished in third place out of nine teams in the region just behind Michigan State and Grand Valley University. Though the Britons’ final meet of the season was reduced to a single show from a planned double header due to inclement weather, they still managed a strong showing, with first-year students Kiva Auten-McGill ’11 (Houghton / Houghton) and Alyssa Ford ’11 (Clayton / Hudson) nailing down wins in the Intermediate II division and Brandy Morelock ’11 (Eaton Rapids / Springport) bringing home a victory in reining. Upperclassmen Mallory Fellows ’10 (Jenison / Jenison) and Tricia Marheine ’10 (Iron Mountain / Kingsford) also lent support with third place finishes in the open and novice divisions, respectively. Not only were the riders’ results good enough for a third place team finish, but three riders have qualified as individuals for the regional competition that will be hosted by Western Michigan University on March 22, 2008. First-year students Brandy Morelock and Alyssa Ford will join team captain Tricia Marheine as the three vie for bids to the IHSA zone competition later in the spring. More Results: |
