Doering Finishes First in GVSU Meet At their first meet of the 2009-2010 season, a very young Albion College hunt seat team was led by one of their newest riders, first year student Ruthie Doering (Cadillac/Cadillac), whose win in the Beginning Walk/Trot/Canter division helped propel the Britons to a fourth place finish overall. Also securing a first-place finish at the Grand Valley State University-hosted competition was returning rider Sarah Behrendt (Walled Lake/Lutheran Westland), a sophomore who competed in the Intermediate Flat division. Team co-captain, sophomore Lannis Smith (Northville/Northville), secured third place in a competitive Novice Over Fences class, where she was joined by first-year student Carly Trout (Bridgman/River Valley), who made her IHSA debut. Also taking third place in her class was team veteran Christine Grahl (Coldwater/Coldwater), who shows in the Open Over Fences division. The Britons return to action over Halloween weekend at the University of Western Ontario. |
