The Albion Dressage team traveled to Lake Erie College for the first show of the season on Sunday, November 18, 2007. The Britons were in the fortunate position of being able to take two teams, each composed of four riders, and one individual rider who competed on a mixed team. Albion’s first team was awarded grand champion for the show as the high-point team and now leads IDA D Region in total overall points.

Riding first for Team One in the Open division was team captain Halley Sissom ‘08 (Chelsea/ Chelsea), a returning IDA National Championship qualifier from 2006-2007, who placed second with a score of 63.00%. In the Upper Training division, Mark Lampen ‘10  (Zeeland / Zeeland East), Albion’s other national qualifier from the 2006-2007 season, finished second with a score of 62.8%. First-year rider Emily Hebert ‘11  (Fayston, VT / Harwood Union) won the Lower Training division with her score of 63.91% and Mary Applegate ‘10 (Grandville / Grandville) rounded out the team’s score when she placed sixth in the Introductory division with a score of 61%. The final team total of 18 points secured the victory for Albion’s Team One.

Albion’s Team Two began the day with rider Brittany White ‘10 (Midland / H.H. Dow) riding in the open division. White placed seventh with a score of 59.67% and was followed in the Upper Training division by Heather Riecker ‘11 (Dexter / Dexter) who finished eighth with a score of 53.60%. Lauren Cross ‘09 (Littleton, CO / Heritage) rode in the Lower Training division and placed fourth with a score of 61.3%. In the Introductory division, Allison Robbins ‘10 (Chardon, OH / Plainfield Central) rode to a fourth place finish with a score of 63.5% and put Team Two into eighth place overall.

Albion’s lone individual rider, Kjirsten Sneed ‘11 (Washburn, WI / Washburn), was able to compete on a mixed team in the Open division where she placed fourth with a score of 60.67%.

The Britons look to host their first IDA competition on February 17, 2008 at the Nancy G. Held Equestrian Center.
