Intercollegiate Dressage Association Show FormatCompetition through the Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) is unique from traditional horse shows in that riders compete on unfamiliar horses that are provided by the host school. Students draw the name of a horse out of a hat and are granted only ten minutes of warm up time to familiarize themselves with their mounts before entering the ring and being judged against competitors from other schools. This competition format truly tests a rider’s ability to quickly assess their mount and show it to their best advantage. It also tests the rider’s courage to trust a horse they’ve never ridden previously, leveling the playing field and making for a very exciting display of equestrian abilities. Intercollegiate dressage meets are open to the public. Back to Horse Shows | Albion Equestrian Teams | Held Center Home |
