Internships are an important part of the Gerstacker Institute and are designed to give practical applications of the theories and techniques learned in the classroom. Internships are designed to allow students to test their interest in a particular field and discover what they want, or don’t want, in their future career.

Although the majority of internships are paid, the most important benefits gained from an internship are the experience of working in a business setting, professional growth, and career insight.

Students have three internship options for their two required internships.

1. Two full-time internships in the U.S. or
2. One U.S. internship and one full-time semester of study at a foreign university or
3. One U.S. internship and one off-campus semester that combines study with an internship.

The Center for International Education provides information on Off-Campus Programs that are offered through Albion College. Students completing the Gerstacker Institute Concentration Program complete one internship.
