Michael L. Frandsen, Ph.D.,
Director
Named director of the Institute in 2006, Mike joined
Albion College in 2004 as a faculty member in Economics & Management.
Mike brings both academic credentials and practical experience to his
role as director. He has an MBA from Penn State and a Ph.D. in
Management from the University of Texas at Austin. Before coming to
Albion, Mike taught management, finance, accounting, and information
technology at Penn State, St. Edward’s University, and Juniata College.
Before beginning his academic career, he worked for more than ten years
in corporate finance for international companies such as Singer/Raytheon
(US), Schering AG (Germany), Elf Aquitaine/Total (France), and Nortel
Networks (Canada).

Charlene Crandell, Associate Director
Joining the Institute October 2007, Char brings over 20 years of
small-business and health care management experience to her assignment. Most
recently, she owned a small business in the environmental services sector
identifying, assessing, and remediating contaminated properties. Prior to that,
Char spent 14 years with The Upjohn Company and Pharmacia in a broad range of
brand management assignments including responsibility for OTC drug strategic
planning, advertising, and new product launches. Additionally, she held
technical brand management and product development positions with Procter and
Gamble. She holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
