Academic Program The Gerstacker Institute academic program has two tracks, an honors program for students majoring in Economics and Management and an honors concentration (minor) in Management for those with majors in other disciplines. Economics and Management majors earning the opportunity to participate in the program take honors courses in economics and statistics and additional courses in accounting, management, business ethics, and public speaking. They also complete two internships as part of the required courses for the Gerstacker Institute major. Generally the first internship is taken during the academic year and the second internship is taken in the summer. Students given the chance to pursue a concentration in the Gerstacker program take a subset of the courses majors do and complete one internship. During the summer following the sophomore year, students in the Gerstacker major will attend Summer College. The summer college session allows students the opportunity to complete two internships and still graduate in four years. The admission procedure for students applying to either the Gerstacker major or Gerstacker concentration requires an application and a personal interview with the director.
