Active Volcanism on Hawaii

Hawaii is one of the newest places on Earth, filled with spectacular scenery, world-class beaches, and, of course, volcanoes. Every year, over a million visitors arrive on the Big Island to see the lava flows alone. In March 2003, the Albion College Regional Geology class traveled to the islands, ready to study both active and remnant volcanism.

As you navigate this site, you will get a glimpse into our trip, and at the same time learn about the origin and current activity of lava flows on Hawaii - where they come from and what we might expect in the future. Additionally, pictures and digital video pertaining to each section will appear in the red bar to the left.

We sincerely hope you enjoy your visit here. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact either Jason Kennedy at jak11@albion.edu or Ed Epp at ege10@albion.edu
