Institute Awards and Scholarships
Michael A. Dively Leadership Award
This award has been established in honor of Michael A. Dively
who served as the Institute's first director from 1978 to 1988. The
award is presented to an upper-class student, preferably a senior, who
has demonstrated leadership and commitment to public service in the
future. This service should be broad-based including campus,
local, state or national involvement. The recipient is selected in
the spring semester by the Institute Director with input from faculty.

Gerald R. Ford Institute Leadership Award
This award is given to a senior student who has shown
exceptional leadership and outstanding contribution to the Institute,
the College, and the community. The recipient is selected in the
spring semester by fellow Ford Institute senior members.
2008 Award Recipient: Ross Gavin, '08
Michael P. Noonan Scholarship for Leadership in
Public Life
This scholarship has been established in memory of Albion
alum Mike Noonan who died in a car accident not long after his time at
Albion. The scholarship is presented to a sophomore or junior Ford
Institute member with a record of public activism. The recipient
is selected in the spring semester by the Institute Director with input
from faculty.

Scholarship
The Ford Institute together with the History Department
select a sophomore or junior student who is both a history major and
member of the Institute. It is designed to recognize superior
achievement with a minimum grade point average requirement of a 3.7.

Sharon
“Zo” Gates Rees, ’53 Fellowship for Women in Public Office.
Through the generous support of Sharon Rees, a 1953
alumnus of Albion College, we proudly award this Fellowship.
The
program promotes the interest of women in seeking elected office and
making available to them the knowledge of how to achieve their goals.
To this end, the fellowship supports internships that provide women
students the experience to better understand the processes of achieving
and holding elective office. The Rees Fellowship program is
administered jointly by the directors of the Gerald R. Ford Institute
for Public Policy and Service and the Women’s and Gender Studies
Program.

Behring-Warner Global Vision
Scholarship
The Ford Institute is pleased to announce the inaugural
awards of the Behring-Warner Global Vision Scholarship.
Established by the Deanna Behring (’85) and Andrew Warner, this new
scholarship promotes the interest of Ford Institute students seeking to
intern in non-traditional settings across the world. Our developing
global economy demands leaders who understand and can promote positive
change. This generous program supports two students seeking internships
in areas such as Asia, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, or other
locations outside the traditional internship locations. The
Behring-Warner Global Vision Scholarship is administered by the Gerald
R. Ford Institute for Public Service.
