Albion College 

 Students in both the Environmental Sciences and the Environmental Studies Concentrations complete internships. These provide opportunities for students to gain work experience as part of their academic programs. Internships have been as varied as the career opportunities in environmental fields. Some recent internships include:

 

Environmental Lawyer’s Assistant

Location: Bloomfield Hills, Michigan

Researched materials for several civil suits.

Environmental Education Intern

Location: Prince William Sound Science Center, Cordova, Alaska

Developed environmental education materials for the center, and conducted programming for area children.

Research Assistant

Location: Washington Fisheries Research Institute

Studied invertebrate populations in transplanted eel grass beds to determine the success of transplant program.

SMCO Environmental Department Intern

Location:

Worked on environmental projects in an industrial setting. Projects included developed a display and explanation of the waste stream and a program on recycling for employees, setting up recycling programs, and auditing materials safety data sheets and containment procedures.

Research Project, ACM tropical Field Research Program

Location: Costa Rica

Studied the relationship between jaguars and two species of marine turtles.

Naturalist Intern, Sarett Nature Center

Location: Benton Harbor Michigan

Duties included school group education, wilderness camping, office duty, animal

rehabilitation, and independent projects.

County Recycling Office Intern

Location: Calhoun County, Michigan

Compiled and distributed lists of recycling stations in the county, developed a

composting demonstration, and developed information video.
