ResourcesThese resources can be used to keep up on what the Internet has to offer current and future teachers, to locate resources that might be used to complete education course assignments, and to supplement K-12 curriculum and instruction in any subject area. Michigan Teacher Network - supporting Michigan educators with over 8,000 best practice, standard-based, and professional development resources. Michigan's Electronic Library for Teachers - frequently updated with standard-based lessons and much, much more. Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators - started in her spare time for other teachers, it's one of the first and one of the best. So good, in fact, that she is now working with the Discovery Channel to provide the most current ideas and resources available. Yahooligans! - this search site, brought to you be your friends at Yahoo! is designed to be used by K12 students. Each web site linked to Yahooligans! has been personally examined by Yahoo! to ensure that no inappropriate information will be accessed by your students. Classroom Connect - intended to help students investigate, integrate, and communicate information in class and over the Internet. What You Need to Know About K-6 Assessment Strategies - as the name suggests, this is an excellent site for elementary teachers. Go to their main page to look up even more information resources for K-6 teachers. Cool Sites - one of the many sites developed by a teacher from Indiana for all teachers. The Top 101 Sites for Teachers - just found this one and it looks great! Sites That Help Classroom Teachers - contains links to hundreds of other sites for all grades and subject areas. Apple's Michigan Teacher Technology Initiative - this program is designed to improve student achievement by providing Michigan’s students with access to 21st-century learning tools. The Discovery Channel - one television channels with an excellent wep page for educators. National Geographic On-Line - ditto, here. New York Times Learning Network - Learning and teaching resources related to current events and journalism. Updated daily, M-F. A very interesting feature is the "Knowledge Tool" which is available from the Student Connections segment of the site. When this is turned on, certain words or phrases in the articles are linked to online dictionary and encyclopedia definitions. Now this is learning ... Project-Based Science and PIViT - the place where one can also download the latest copy of PIViT (Project Integration and Visualization Technology), the renowned project-planning and concept mapping software.
