Journals and Other Print Resources

The resources below offer a wide array of professional information for teachers.  If you know of a link that should be added, please contact us.

AskERIC - this site contains virtually every education journal article published since the 1960s.  It's a resource every student here at Albion uses.

Newslink - just one of many sites that link to newspapers and magazines in the U.S. and around the world, plus up-to-the-minute news from the Associated Press.

Education Week - it's THE resource to keep you up-to-date on education in the U.S.

The International Educator - ever think about teaching overseas?  This is the site for you.  Lots of interesting articles and a huge list of job openings.

New York Times Learning Network - Learning and teaching resources related to current events and journalism. Updated daily, M-F. A very interesting feature is the "Knowledge Tool" which is available from the Student Connections segment of the site. When this is turned on, certain words or phrases in the articles are linked to online dictionary and encyclopedia definitions. Now this is learning ...

US Dept of Education Publications One-stop public access to free copies of publications, posters, videos, and other Dept. of Ed brick-brack. You can even order the publications through this site.

The Chronicle of Higher Education - Academe This Week - the old fashioned way of finding out the gossip about what's going on in the world of higher education.

Electronic Journal of Science Education - just what it says, and a hale effort this is (I especially liked the story in Vol. 1, #2 about the Minnesota students who found the one-legged frogs).

American Educational Research Association (AERA) - the mother of all educational research institutions.

Heinemann - a publisher of fine teacher education texts and resources, primarily related to literacy.

Language Education Associates - an independent publishing company offering selected titles in the field of language education.

Leveled Children's Books - a good site for elementary teachers.  If you don't know what a leveled book is, you'll know once you complete our education program!

Scholastic - these are the books nearly every child used in school.  Great for parents who want to purchase texts for their children.

Federal Resources for Education Excellence - a big-time collaborative project involving zillions of federal agencies (Dept. of Education, National Endowment for the Humanities, Peace Corps, etc.) pooling their collective resources, all for the lucky web surfer. It is organized by twelve subject areas which are somewhat geared towards teachers and students. Care to check out some historical letters?
