Technology in
Education
My name is Beth Albery. I am a senior at Albion College, and I am applying for the M-COATT Technology Certification. I taught in a third grade classroom that had four Windows computers for students. We also had access to a computer lab where the entire class could work at one time. Microsoft Word and HyperStudio was installed on all computers in the school, and all computers were equipped with headphones so that students and parents could hear the audio portion of our HyperStudio project.
Standard
C: I
taught a writing unit in which students became familiar with
multimedia to publish and illustrate a digital book. Students
practiced typing skills on Microsoft Word and learned to use the
HyperStudio drawing tools, textboxes, buttons, and
graphics.
Standard
D: I
used an instructional resource called PIViT to design
transdisciplinary units in health and science. I created a visual
concept map that shows the connections between the lessons and
objectives within the units.
Standard
E: My
class presented our HyperStudio project to friends and family during
a parent night at our school. We communicated to parents the process
we went through to create our project. The students were able to use
the computers in our classroom to show their parents our digital
book.
