What must I do to apply for the M-COATT?
- Tell the Ferguson Director you are interested asap, and start making plans to use technology during your student teaching. If you are student teaching in the spring, you'll have an extra two months to meet the deadline shown in step 3.
- Using an internet browser, go to www.coatt.org
and click on the Preservice information! You will find the deadlines,
on-line applications and verification forms you will need.
- You will submit your packet in web-accessible format to the Ferguson
Director on a Zip, Imation, Orb, or CD-ROM by mid-April. It should also
be 'saved' on the Albion College People server. Your packet will be checked
for any gross mistakes. Your cooperating teacher will have to sign your application to signify that you did actually teach the unit in their classroom.
- Once campus-approved, your URL will be forwarded to COATT for review.
- A panel of reviewers from other teacher education institutions and professional organizations in Michigan will look at your packet, and make a decision whether to award you the M-COATT or not.
- Awards will be announced following the Summer COATT meeting; if selected, your name will be placed on the COATT web site, you will receive a certificate (which you should put into your full portfolio), and you will be invited to a special awards ceremony. You will also be welcome to mention the award on your resume.
What is a digital portfolio?
How will I know what to put on my portfolio? How would someone assess it?
What is the Consortium for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching with Technology (COATT)? How can I earn the M-COATT, the Michigan Certificate of Outstanding Achievement in Teaching with Technology?
What web resources or books can I use or look at to help me get started?
Can I see an example of one of these things?
