Science Pedagogy: Effective Instruction and Effective Schools

Education 230, Spring 2000

You can look at or print the semester calendar for the class; it comes from my PIViT plan (shooter takes his own medicine), and it is in Acrobat (pdf) format. As you look at it, note that items in red are artifacts that are due on a given date; items in cyan or magenta are classroom activities and investigations that we will do in class. Days when we have no class are denoted by gold items. I have built some flexibility into the calendar so that we can make changes as necessitated by our progress, thus our plan for each day is not set in stone. When I make updates to the calendar, I will change the date on the file name. If the calendar looks "funny" when you look at it, adjust the size to 100% by selecting it from the pull-down menu on the lower left of the Acrobat window.

My preference is to give out reading assignments in class (hey, we gotta save some good stuff for then), so they are not listed here. If you would like to get ahead of the nominal pace that I announce the readings, let me know and I will also provide "get ahead" notes in class.
