Regular reading of the Wall Street Journal is required.

Course Description

You are required to come to class every day unless you have: *** official school business which you have cleared with me ahead of time; *** a documented family emergency; *** a serious unexpected illness (please send me an e-mail or call the economics secretary at 629-0419 BEFORE class to indicate this).

You are expected to read the material BEFORE each class, and be prepared to discuss it. If I sense this is not happening, I will give unannounced quizzes, and factor these into your grade.

Grades will be based on five 100 point exams (all noncumulative).  Note:  There is NO final exam.  The last exam will be given during the last week of class.

In addition, you will be required to complete at least one Excel-based projects that will total up to 100 points.

Finally, there will be occasional homework (3-10 points each) and possible quizzes (25 pts).

Final grades will be based the total possible points (exams, project(s), homework and quiz points) and the following grading scale:

93-100%..... 4.0
89-92....... 3.7
85-88....... 3.3
80-84....... 3.0
75-79....... 2.7
70-74....... 2.3
65-69....... 2.0
60-64....... 1.7
55-59....... 1.3
50-54....... 1.0
< 50......... 0.0
