Minors in Economics & Management

The minor in economics, the minor in management, and the minor in management - Gerstacker track are not open to economics and management majors.

Students may not choose more than one minor in the Economics and Management Department.

All courses for the minor must be taken for a numerical grade, except those offered only on a credit/no credit basis.

Minor in Economics:

The minor in economics requires Economics 101, which gives a broad introduction to economics, and either Economics 230 or 232, which gives a development of the theory at the intermediate level.  Three more courses are required from economics electives in the areas of history, policy, theory, and/or methodology.

    and either

  • E&M 230 - Intermediate Microeconomics
    or

  • E&M 232 - Intermediate Macroeconomics

Elective courses (three courses chosen from):

Minor in Management:

The minor in Management requires Economics 101, an introduction to economics, and Economics 211, an introduction to accounting.   These are the same two introductory courses required of majors.  The student may then choose three courses from a list of electives in the areas of accounting, marketing, finance, management, business law, human resources, communications, and organizational theory.

Minor in Management - Gerstacker Track:

The minor in management - Gerstacker track requires admission to the Carl E. Gerstacker Liberal Arts Institute for Professional Management. 

The required classes are Economics 101H, an introduction to economics for honors students, Economics 102H, an introduction to the macroeconomy and macroeconomic models for honors students, and Economics 211, an introduction to accounting, and Economics 259, an introduction to organizational behavior.  The student may then choose two courses from a list of electives in the areas of accounting, marketing, finance, management, business law, human resources, communications, and organizational theory.

Two internships are also required.
