Eco Club is a growing student-run organization dedicated to the environment.  We search for ways to make positive changes in the Albion campus and community through education, activism, and volunteering.  The club promotes greater awareness of ecological challenges and works locally for their resolution.

Some past club events have included: the promotion of campus recycling, environmental speakers and performers (including folk music, eco-art, and bat conservation), surveys and research on recycling and parking patterns on campus, and walks in the Whitehouse Nature Center.  We also actively volunteer in the community.  Last year we co-adopted (with Environmental Institute) a section of 29 ½ Mile Road, which is located behind Whitehouse Nature Center, that we clean 3 times a year.  In addition, we do yearly clean-ups of the stretch of the Kalamazoo River that flows through campus (by canoe) and have participated with organizations in our community such as the Nature Conservancy and the North Country Trail Association.  Past examples of raising ecological awareness on campus included the construction of a giant whale, that was filled with trash and placed on the Quad in celebration of Earth Day.
