Self-Assessment
Self-Assessment
exercises help you examine who you are and
where you are headed. Start
with one listed below or come up with your
own. After completing an exercise,
reflect on what you have learned about
yourself and how you might apply what you
have learned to your goals and plans. You may want to place the exercise and
your responses in your portfolio or maybe
just your reflection. Since you and
your portfolio are ever changing, you are
encouraged to revisit the self-assessment
stage periodically.

Ask
yourself WHY?
Why?
Getting to where you are right now
was based on a series of choices.
What was your rationale for making
one decision or choice over another?
What were the consequences of those
decisions?
-
Why
did you decide to go to college?
-
Why
did you decide to come to Albion
College?
-
Why
did you decide (or have you not
yet decided) to pursue a
particular major, concentration
or discipline?
-
Why
did you select the courses in
which you are currently
enrolled?
-
Why
did you join your organizations,
clubs, and groups?
-
Why
do you spend your leisure time
the way you do?
Whether
this is the first or fourth time
completing the Ask yourself Why
assessment, reflect on your
responses. What have been the
consequences of your decisions?
What have been the positive and
negative outcomes? How have these
decisions impacted other decisions
you made and how will they impact
future decisions? How can you
use what you have learned about
yourself through this assessment as
you plan for your future?

|
What
have you done, what did you learn
and how will you grow?
List
5 experiences you have had and at
least one thing you learned from
each experience. Identify
whether what you learned is a new
skill or self awareness. Write
a reflection paragraph on each of
these experiences including what led
you to the experience, how you can
use what you learned now and in the
future, and what future experiences
you may want to explore or avoid as
a result of this experience.
