Delta Gamma welcomes thousands of exceptional young women into membership each year at more than 140 college campuses in the United States and Canada. Promoting service, sisterhood, scholarship and leadership, Delta Gamma offers outstanding opportunities to its members. The sisters of Zeta Chapter are certainly no different!  Our collegians are campus leaders, community and campus volunteers, and academic achievers.

Sisterhood:
The unique joys of sisterhood found in Delta Gamma membership are boundless. Finding your big sis, studying together, hanging out in the lodge, having someone to share your worries  and your dreams are treasured moments. Women with the same goals and ideals create a sisterhood of mutual respect. This bond of friendship which begins in college will last a lifetime.

Scholarship:
Academic excellence is vitally important to the sustained success of Delta Gamma and its members. Delta Gamma offers over $250,000 in scholarships and fellowships each year! Interest free loans are also available to qualified members. Scholastic excellence is rewarded in our chapter with incentives and individual recognition. Delta Gamma is proud of our members' academic achievements and strives to instill the value of lifelong learning in every member.

Service:
Delta Gamma's members are dedicated and creative in findin
g ways to "Do Good."  Eachyear our members donate thousands of dollars and hundreds of service hours to charitable causes. Albion DGs help with eye testing in local schools, host the Anchor Splash and Most Beautiful Eyes contests, and make raised coloring pages for visually-impaired children.  Delta Gammas also participate in Albion College service activities through SVB, Habitat, and the philanthropic events of other sororities and fraternities on campus. The college experience is enhanced by Delta Gamma's strong commitment to serving others.

Leadership:
Delta Gamma provides many leadership development opportunities for its members. Zeta
Chapter offer an assortment of leadership roles, ultimately involving each member in the management of the chapter. Time management, administrative, and managerial skills are sharpened through seminars, conventions, chapter advisers and visiting consultants. Delta Gamma's Leadership for Life program offers crucial skills and activities for individualized development. This is a dynamic, ethics-based leadership experience that empowers our collegiate members.

Social:
Sororities provide their members with a broad range of social events to participate in. Some Delta Gamma activities include formals, date parties, alumnae activities, parents' weekends, retreats, sisterhood activities, and intramural sporting events. Albion DGs are very proud of their title as back-to-back Greek Week Champions, an event which brings us together as a house, a team.

Does Delta Gamma have a grade requirement?

Delta Gamma has a GPA requirement of 2.7, though exceptions have been made for extenuating circumstances.  Please contact our recruitment chair ahead of recruitment period if you have a grade-related concern.

How much time does it take to be a Delta Gamma?

Delta Gamma truly is as much of a time commitment as you make it.  If you chose to take an office, it requires more time than if you do not have a position.  With a position, DG takes up about 5 hours a week (on average).  The amount of time directors and vice-presidents spend on their duties depends on the job and the week.  Without a position, this time commitment is less (about 3 hours a week).  Every Monday there is a house meeting that members are required to attend and during the week there may be different events that may take up time.

Just how much money do you need?  Where does all the money go?

There are dues every semester for Delta Gamma.  At first the cost may seem like a lot but the member fees decrease after the new member period.  Bills are not due in one large amount; payment plans can be arranged to best fit your personal finances.  The money spent each semester goes to pay for the rent and insurance on the lodge, national dues, and budgets for positions and activities.

Are there any outside costs?

Usually members can expect to pay for their own t-shirts, party tickets, etc., although these expenses are sometimes covered by dues.  As an initiated member you can volunteer to take a little sister, which would require buying gifts for a new member, but there are spending limits.

What role does community service play in Delta Gamma?

Delta Gammas participate and hold positions in service organizations such as Alpha Phi Omega, Student Volunteer Bureau, Peace Action, ASP (Appalachia Service Project), and many other organizations.  Our philanthropy is Service for Sight, which aids visually-impaired people throughout the world.  Our chapter actively supports our philanthropy through our annual Anchor Splash contest, which contributes thousands of dollars each year to Service for Sight and other charitable causes.  Our commitment, however, is not limited solely to fund raising.  All Zeta members donate at least ten hours per semester to community service.

What advantages come along with being part of the the Fraternity?

As a member, you are given an opportunity to get to know a house full of unique, diverse, and involved girls that will dedicate their loyalty to you as a sister.  Delta Gamma also offers the chance to have positions of leadership and responsibility.  As member of an international fraternity, you are automatically part of an extensive network of sisters throughout the world that will continue to be useful after college.
