Delta Gamma was founded on December 25, 1873 by three young women at the Lewis School in Oxford, Mississippi. Our chapter, Zeta, was founded ten years later and was the first women's fraternity at Albion. Zeta is one of the oldest Delta Gamma chapters in existence and has a rich and distinguished history on the Albion campus.
Our badge is the golden anchor,
the age-old symbol of hope. The open motto of the fraternity
is "Do Good" and Zeta Chapter actively seeks to improve the quality of life for our (over 70!) members and our campus community. We are strongly committed to eliminating hazing in any form from our fraternity and the Greek system in general. Delta Gamma's national philanthropy is Service for Sight: an organization that seeks to prevent blindness, increase eye safety awareness, and aid those who are visually impaired. Zeta Chapter actively supports our philanthropy, providing thousands of dollars and hundreds of service hours each year. Our chapter is proud to claim one of the largest and nicest sorority lodges on campus as our own. The lodge has both an informal activity lounge and a formal meeting room; both of which are large and beautifully decorated. There are two kitchens serving each of the lounge areas. A grand curving staircase with a balcony open to the two story foyer welcomes visitors as they step through the front door. The lodge makes an impressive statement to prospective new members during the formal and informal recruitment periods each year. It is a home away from home for our members: a place for meetings, dinners, movie nights, and having fun with our sisters! |
