Publications/Graphics Services

We can assist in developing a wide range of print communications from invitations, newsletters, and posters, to brochures, saddle-bound booklets, and perfect-bound books. Included among the more than 230 jobs produced annually within the Communications Office is Albion’s quarterly alumni magazine, Io Triumphe.

Services include:

  • Communications planning
  • Writing/editing
  • Graphic design
  • Print buying
  • Production coordination

Media Relations

The media relations staff coordinates the external news media coverage of Albion College, and advises campus groups and individuals on public relations strategies. As part of its efforts, the media relations staff works to increase recognition of the College by linking faculty, staff, and student experts with reporters and editors locally, regionally, and nationally. The media relations staff also coordinates the College’s news Web site.

Services include:

  • Writing and distribution of press releases for College events, organizations, departments, and special announcements
  • Public relations strategies
  • Placement of College-related stories in local, regional, and national media
  • Development of College “experts” to serve as sources for news stories
  • Acting as spokesperson for the College, coordinating media coverage of on-campus events, news, and crises
  • Assisting with advertising planning/media buying

Sports Information

The sports information staff coordinates the publicity for 18 varsity sports at Albion College. As part of its efforts, the sports information staff distributes announcements to each student athlete’s hometown newspaper at the beginning and end of every team’s season, as well as sending weekly updates highlighting the accomplishments of Briton student-athletes. The sports information staff is also charged with reporting scores, statistics, and information to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The sports information staff also coordinates the College’s sports Web site.

Services include:

  • Writing and distribution of news releases on College sports events and of announcements to student-athletes' hometown media
  • Producing game-day programs and media guides
  • Providing live Internet broadcasts of football, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball contests. Please see http://www.albion.edu/sports/pressrelease/34bcast.asp for the broadcast schedule.
  • Compiling and disseminating statistics for all home athletic events
  • Assisting media in the coverage of Albion College athletics, including supervising the press box, producing game notes, arranging pre- and post-event interviews and helping media with post-event requests

Web Support

Our Web management intern advises faculty or staff members charged with developing or maintaining Web site content for their respective office or department. Group and individual training sessions are provided on request. The intern is also charged with maintaining a consistent graphic identity for the Web site, planning and making global changes in the site’s content and/or navigation, and serving as a liaison with the Office of Information Technology.   • Permissions for new Web site developers
  • Training in Web development software and techniques
  • Technical assistance/advice in site development
  • Trouble-shooting problems
